Specialist Referrals

As health care professionals we liaise with GP's and ophthalmologists on a regular basis. As optometrists our job is to screen for any abnormal ocular eye conditions and refer you onwards to an ophthalmologist that specializes in the particular area about which we are concerned.

Emergency Referrals

Some conditions would require an emergency referral, like Retinal Detachment or a Retinal Hemorrhage. In such cases we will call ahead to the Royal Victoria Eye & Ear  Hospital ( Adelaide Road) or Mater Hospital Ophthalmic A&E Service ( Eccles Street ) and arrange a point of contact for you to be seen as soon as is possible.

Routine Referrals

Most eye conditions are not immediately sight threatening, but need an ophthalmological opinion none the less. We will inform your GP and recommend a specialist for you.
